General Tax Information

If you are buying a specific property in Rindge, please contact us to find out what the actual taxes are for a full year. Then contact the Assessing Department and ask questions about the property. Every state assesses differently, and by speaking with the assessor, you may avoid any surprises after you have moved in. Our tax year runs from April 1st to March 31st. The Town of Rindge bills twice a year, with taxes due approximately on July 1st and December 1st. Many banks and mortgage companies automatically send in payments from escrows. You might want to contact them to find out if your mortgage is on their automatic payment list. This could avoid a double payment. To find out how your taxes were formulated, request a copy of your tax card from the Assessing Office. If you need a copy of your bill or a balance, please request one by calling 603-899-5181 ext. 108, emailing taxcollector@rindgenh.gov, or seeing me during my regular office hours.

My office hours are Mon - Thurs 9:00-1:00 & 2:00-4:00, CLOSED FRIDAYS. These hours are subject to change due to workshops, storms, holidays, and vacations.

Payments dropped in the night slot or with other departments are posted the next business day. Late payments on property tax bills are subject to 8% per annum. All Lien bills are subject to 14% interest. Current Use, Timber & Excavating Bills are subject to 18% interest.

When taxes remain unpaid by the May following the last bill, a Lien is placed against the property at the Cheshire County Registry of Deeds for unpaid prior year bills. If the Lien remains unpaid for two years from the date of the lien, the town may take ownership of the property by Tax Deed. The only exception to this is, any property under Bankruptcy protection cannot be deeded to the town. The Lien history remains on the records at the Registry for 10 years, even though the Lien may have been reported to the Registry as paid.

Call my office for current balance or questions 603-899-5181 Ext 108.

Remember, payments received here at my office in January cannot be used for your tax return. It is not the date you write your check, it is the date received and posted at the tax office. If you require a receipt, please enclose a postage-paid return envelope.

If you leave a message, please leave a return phone number and speak slowly and clearly so that we may get back to you.

Yours truly,
Andrea LaVache
